Long Island Man Who Fell In Neck-Deep Water Rescued By Police Officer

A Long Island man who fell in the water off Cold Spring Harbor State Park was rescued by a Suffolk County police officer who responded to a 911 call.

The incident took place around 8:50 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, when Officer Christopher Jablonski and saw Erik Holm, 43, of Bayville, in neck-deep water.

Jablonski jumped into a small boat that was on the shore and used his arms to paddle out to Holm. 

Holm held on to the boat and Jablonski jumped into the water and used a rope to help pull him and the boat back to shore, police said.

Once on shore, Holm was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department ambulance. 

While in the ambulance, Officer James Garside, a member of the Suffolk County Police Medical Crisis Action Team, and a paramedic from the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department provided advanced life support. 

Jablonski was evaluated at the scene.
